We chose the name Waykan because it means "star or light that shines in the night" when spoken in the local dialect. The indigenous people in and around Huehuetenango play a very integral role in the region's coffee production. Coffee accounts for, either directly or indirectly, about 80% of the local economy. This coffee truly is a "star" coffee. When you enjoy this coffee, you will experience crisp acidity reminiscent of lemon or grape with a balance of toffee and almond.
